Currently, if I have 17 clips and I want to rescale them and add blur and color correction effects, I have to apply them to one of the clips and then copy them to others. Or you simple join them, export them and then import again as single clip. Then use effects.
The problem with this approach is, it makes things complex instead of simple. Adding, removing, adjusting the effects on multiple clips is not so convenient.
Further, suppose you want to scale up by 80% some of clips, some by 60% and some by 90%. Then lastly, if you want to scale all of them up or down overall in final preview, it will make things tedious and repetitive scaling effects may be needed. It's just an example where things get complex.
Most of the video editors solve this issue by grouping/nesting funcionality. Where you can simple group multiple clips and it shows as one clip. Then you can manipulate it however you want, as a single clip.
One of the reasons I think the developers haven't implemented this is that they want to keep the video editor simple. However, this is my honest opinion, it actually makes it complex for many users who work with multiple clips and effects. Many users have actually asked about this before. I'm sure I'm not alone.
Implementing this feature will actually make it simpler for users. It's one of those features that will help justify the "simple yet powerful" moto more realistic.
I really hope developers consider this feature and implement in near future.
