How can I read the NIS code?

Hi Andrea, thanks for this fantastic repo. I would like to ask you how to read the NIS code that is present inside the Italian identity card (CIE). The Service Identification Number (NIS) is a unique numeric value composed of 12 digits, generated during the customization phase of the CIE, dedicated specifically to the use of services with fast physical access.

Hi, thank you very much! About the NIS, is it an ad-hoc registered code on the CIE and not standardized by ICAO? I don't think I read anything about this number during the research. If you want, send me some references and I'll take a look at it 😊

@andrea-deluca Hi, sorry for the late reply — I missed the notification.
Regarding the NIS, I made some changes to the library and I was able to read it successfully.
However, I'm currently facing an issue with the most recent CIE cards: I’m unable to authenticate and access the card data.
Have you encountered this as well? Any information you could share would be greatly appreciated.

Did you find a way to access the card data? I stuck with the Italy passport with the same context. How do you solve it?

Hi @pi-fx, yes, I was able to access the card data. In my case, after authentication it was necessary to use two TagReaders to access the different data. This is due to the fact that CIE cards are not all the same.
