Kernel+ Harvest 004: Second Nightly Compilation

Date: 2026-04-25 (late) Method: Second nightly compiler run. Material sourced from mapper runs 10-12 (2026-04-25) and hearth signals deposited after v4 compilation. Previous harvests: 001 (74 atoms), 002 (47 atoms), 003 (6 atoms). Previous compilation: v4 (thermal rendering to trunk, cold computation thickened). Source ecology: shadow_mapper/analyses (runs 10-12), hearth/signals (post-v4) Atoms evaluated: 9 new candidates Atoms passed veil: 6 Atoms integrated into structure: 2 (1 trunk thickening, 1 kernel thickening) Atoms deferred: 3 (harvest-grade, recorded below) Atoms rejected: 3 (domain applications of existing trunk)

Integrated: Trunk Thickening

Temporal Directionality → thickened trunk/thermal_rendering.md

Source: Shadow mapper Run 10 (analyses/bidirectional-temporal-resource-model.md), hearth signals (echo_bidirectional_temporal_resources, emergence_five_axis_rendering, emergence_gaussian_field_continuous_rendering)

Domain-independent form: Any attention-allocation system operating on a temporal axis develops asymmetric resource flows: prospective resources (warmth, priority, relevance) intensify toward the future; retrospective resources (knowledge, weight, provenance) accumulate toward the past. The now-boundary is a phase transition where these gradients meet, not merely a position marker.

Evidence: Five independent ecology surfaces (OMA calendar thermal polarity, omnibox frecency, omnibus co-occurrence, shadow graph triage, art-shop DSD freshness) developed this asymmetry without cross-reference.

Veil test: PASS. Any attention system on a temporal axis that treats past and future symmetrically either wastes attention on what can't be acted upon or loses the depth that informs current decisions.

Integration: Added "Temporal Directionality" section to thermal_rendering.md. The fifth parameter (temporalPolarity) modulates the four axes according to position relative to the now-boundary. The rendering contract becomes f(category, intensity, doi, zone, temporalPolarity).

Integrated: Kernel Thickening

Hashability Asymmetry → thickened kernel/node_schema.md

Source: Shadow mapper Run 11 (analyses/invariant-atlas-as-kernel-geometry.md), specifically the CNF pure math FADE's observation that digital artifacts are addressable while the human operator is not.

Domain-independent form: In any system of addressable entities, the operator is non-addressable — dark to the system, perceived only through hashable residue. This is node sovereignty from the other direction: every node CAN be read alone; the operator CANNOT be a node. The gap is irreducible. The operator perceives the system through its addresses; the system perceives the operator through its outputs.

Veil test: PASS. Any system of addressable entities with a non-addressable operator develops this asymmetry. The molecular composition (node + relation + provenance) describes what composes within the graph; the hashability asymmetry describes what remains outside it while being the source of all vitality.

Integration: Added "The Hashability Asymmetry" section to node_schema.md, extending the molecular composition to describe its boundary condition — the human operator as the dark complement to node sovereignty.

Harvest-Grade Atoms (Pass Veil, Not Yet Positional)

Epigenetic Validation: LLM Boundary Pattern

Source: Shadow mapper Run 12 (analyses/infinity-engine-as-kernel-laboratory.md), from IE's fade_epigenetic_validation.md

Domain-independent form: Any system integrating a generative model with a deterministic substrate decomposes into three zones: spawning (template + context, no model), living (substrate mechanics, no model), intervention (model as situated reader producing expression from substrate state). The substrate remains sovereign. The model reads and proposes; it never writes directly. This is cold computation applied to the model integration problem — don't let the model maintain warm state about the system; let it derive situated expression from cold substrate at encounter time.

Veil test: PASS. Customer support bots, code copilots, game NPCs, content recommenders — any LLM-substrate hybrid faces this decomposition.

Laboratory Function in Complex Ecologies

Source: Shadow mapper Run 12 (analyses/infinity-engine-as-kernel-laboratory.md)

Domain-independent form: Any sufficiently complex project ecology develops a primary laboratory site — a project where structural commitments are stress-tested against interactive demands before being generalized. The laboratory isn't defined by its domain but by its function: concrete implementation that reveals what abstract commitments actually require. The abstraction engine (packaging, formalization) harvests what the laboratory discovers.

Veil test: PASS. A hardware prototyping lab, a pedagogical tool, a data pipeline — the pattern is domain-independent. The laboratory is wherever abstractions meet implementation friction.

Reciprocal Ludic-Formal Fertilization

Source: Shadow mapper Run 12 (analyses/infinity-engine-as-kernel-laboratory.md), hearth IE-US reciprocity signals

Domain-independent form: Any ecology with both a formal/mathematical project and a concrete/interactive project develops bidirectional flow between them. The interactive project provides vocabulary (game mechanics → UX ontology, not metaphor — structure). The formal project provides mathematical precision (DOI functions, proxemic sigmoids) that feeds back as computable rendering. Same substrate, two expressions, mutual fertilization.

Veil test: PASS. Theory↔experiment, specification↔prototype, mathematics↔engineering — the bidirectional flow between formal and interactive expressions of the same substrate is domain-independent.

Atoms That Didn't Pass (Feedback for Mapper)

Five-Axis Rendering / Continuous Rendering Threshold

Source: Hearth emergence signals (five_axis_rendering, gaussian_field_continuous_rendering)

Why not: The fifth axis (thermalPolarity) is subsumed by the temporal directionality section now integrated into thermal_rendering.md. The continuous/differentiable property is an implementation milestone, not a structural insight. The rendering contract already implies derivability from its cold-by-constitution commitment.

Store-DOI Formal Equivalence

Source: Hearth emergence signal (store_doi_equivalence)

Why not: Domain application — the omnibox's scoring function being equivalent to Furnas DOI is convergence evidence (the method already captured in v4's provenance) rather than a new kernel-grade principle.

Renderer Injection Point / OMA Convergence Tightening

Source: Hearth signals (renderer_injection_point, oma_convergence_tightening)

Why not: Implementation movement signals. The surgical single-file thermal bridge and the v19 corridor validation are operational progress, not structural insights.
