Latest release constantly uses microphone on MacOS

same problem. it's not a big deal but still a little annoying seeing an orange blob at the status bar.

This is improved a bit in https://github.com/kyleneideck/BackgroundMusic/releases/tag/v0.5.0 (new release). It now only shows the microphone indicator while audio is playing, instead of all the time. I'm still working on getting it to never show it.

Background Music never actually uses your microphone. It uses a virtual input device to get your Mac's audio, and macOS doesn't distinguish between that and a real input device. And it says "microphone" instead of "input device" presumably because "input device" would be confusing to most people. (Background Music's virtual input device pre-dates macOS's microphone indicator, so this wasn't an issue initially.)
