Floating pop-out window is missing or undiscoverable on Windows #28448

Description

@SiphrCodez

What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

Version 26.609.71450

What subscription do you have?

Plus

What platform is your computer?

Microsoft Windows NT 10.0.19045.0 x64

What issue are you seeing?

The Codex app documentation still advertises a "Floating pop-out window" for active conversation threads, including the ability to keep the pop-out window visible near the current workflow.

In the Windows app, I cannot find this feature. The only related command I can find via Ctrl+K is "Open in new window", which opens a normal separate app/thread window. It does not appear to be the compact floating pop-out window described in the docs, and I cannot find any separate "Floating window", "Pop out", or "Stay on top" command in the command palette or thread controls.

This may be a Windows parity issue, a regression, a staged rollout/feature flag issue, or a docs mismatch, but from the app UI it currently appears unavailable or undiscoverable.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

  1. Open the Codex app on Windows.
  2. Open an active conversation thread.
  3. Press Ctrl+K.
  4. Search for "pop", "floating", "window", "stay", and "top".
  5. Observe that only "Open in new window" appears.
  6. Check the active thread header and overflow controls.
  7. No compact floating pop-out or stay-on-top control is available.

What is the expected behavior?

There should be a discoverable way to pop the active thread into the floating pop-out window described in the Codex app docs, including the stay-on-top/floating workflow, or the docs should clarify that this feature is not currently available on Windows.

The normal "Open in new window" behavior does not replace the older compact floating chat workflow.

The workflow this affects is keeping Codex beside a browser, editor, or design preview while iterating, especially during frontend work.
