Improved UX: tooltips, descriptions, and discoverability #29

Description

@raguilar011095

Summary

Improve control descriptions, slider tooltips, and overall discoverability so new users can understand what each control does without trial and error.

~8 survey respondents reported controls being confusing or hard to find. Specific issues include: the edit button being hard to discover, sliders whose effect isn't obvious at min/max values, and a general need for better guidance on how to achieve specific world types.

Scope

  • Review and improve all tooltip (data-tip) descriptions for clarity
  • Make the edit button (Ctrl-click / pencil icon) more discoverable
  • Consider adding brief guidance or presets for common world types (ocean world, desert world, etc.)
  • Ensure slider hints clearly communicate what each extreme does

User quotes

"Better description of each control would help. A few controls are hard to notice differences between the max and min values."
"I don't know where the edit button is. Maybe that's a skill issue, but I haven't found it yet."
"Basic generation/settings guides — e.g. how to generate landmasses that aren't all deserts."
