UI is gradualy destroyed

serpl 0.3.3-Arch Linux (2024-08-03)

installed from the arch repository

right now just tried to install it using cargo, via cargo install serpl; exact same issue
so seems like it's not an issue of an old version of the arch package

tried removing the config file, didn't help
thought maybe it had an issue because I had a stopped job in the shell session, nope

Installed ast-grep just in case, even though I wasn't meaning to use it immediately; it was not what caused the bug

is there any other info I should share?

oh, and max is not special, I've tried multiple searches in Simple/Simple mode

Can you let me know which terminal you are using?

Serpl is tested on Alacritty, but there might be other terminal emulators that don't work with serpl as expected.

I came across the behavior of this bug naturally in a completely different situation / program; my findings might help as inspiration.

I ran a shell command, and backgrounded it with &.
Then, I opened helix.

When you background jobs without redirecting their output somewhere, they just continue writing to the tty.
And turns out, TUIs are no exception: I saw lines of that backgrounded command appear directly over the text I ws editing in helix.

A behavior very very similar to what I saw in serpl.
So, maybe there's something similar going on with serpl? Perhaps some backgrounded job, the output of which isn't correctly rerouted / discarded?
