Serpl hangs in macOS 15

I have installed serpl on my macOS 15.5 using home-brew. I have also installed ast-grep and rg. But whenever I am trying to run serpl it hangs with a blank screen. I have to then shutdown my terminal. I have tried it ghostly,wezterm, iterm both on zsh and fish shells. Need help in understanding what is wrong with the setup.

On linux, also with ast-grep, I see a blank screen. However, the disk is thrashing. So it appears to be doing something.
I'm using bash, alacritty, zellij.

I've been working on an alternative which looks similar to serpl although it doesn't have ast-grep support. Maybe that'll be interesting to you https://github.com/beeb/swpui
