Fast Lane, Slow Gain

Fast Lane, Slow Gain is a single-page React app that compares legal driving with speeding to show the real time difference on everyday trips.

What this project does

The app calculates how much time is actually saved when driving above the speed limit, then presents the result in a simple, readable way. It combines a time-savings calculator with safety context so the tradeoff is clear.

Features

  1. Trip time calculator using distance, speed limit, and extra speed.
  2. Exact time saved display in minutes and seconds.
  3. Insight cards for time saved, time reduction, legal pace, and actual pace.
  4. Source-backed safety facts section for real-world context.
  5. Mobile-first interface with responsive layout and dark theme.

End goal

The goal is to prove with numbers and context that speeding is usually not worth it: the time gained is small, while the risk and potential consequences are much higher.
