Description

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

PM: runtime: Fix a race condition related to device removal

The following code in pm_runtime_work() may dereference the dev->parent
pointer after the parent device has been freed:

/* Maybe the parent is now able to suspend. */
if (parent && !parent->power.ignore_children) {
	spin_unlock(&dev->power.lock);

	spin_lock(&parent->power.lock);
	rpm_idle(parent, RPM_ASYNC);
	spin_unlock(&parent->power.lock);

	spin_lock(&dev->power.lock);
}

Fix this by inserting a flush_work() call in pm_runtime_remove().

Without this patch blktest block/001 triggers the following complaint
sporadically:

CVSS v3 base metrics

Attack vector: More severe the more the remote (logically and physically) an attacker can be in order to exploit the vulnerability.
Attack complexity: More severe for the least complex attacks.
Privileges required: More severe if no privileges are required.
User interaction: More severe when no user interaction is required.
Scope: More severe when a scope change occurs, e.g. one vulnerable component impacts resources in components beyond its security scope.
Confidentiality: More severe when loss of data confidentiality is highest, measuring the level of data access available to an unauthorized user.
Integrity: More severe when loss of data integrity is the highest, measuring the consequence of data modification possible by an unauthorized user.
Availability: More severe when the loss of impacted component availability is highest.

Weaknesses

Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition')

The product contains a concurrent code sequence that requires temporary, exclusive access to a shared resource, but a timing window exists in which the shared resource can be modified by another code sequence operating concurrently. Learn more on MITRE.
