Q1 2026 Release Notes

Q1 2026 Revisions Summary

The bulk of the work incorporated into the Q1 FIBO release is not reflected in the primary domain areas, below, but in a new domain representing the declarative aspects of the Algorithmic Contract Types Unified Standards (ACTUS) de facto standard, available from the ACTUS Foundation. We now have complete coverage of the ACTUS taxonomy, with a partial mapping to the relevant contract types in FIBO, complete coverage of the data dictionary, although not all controlled vocabularies have been added to date, and partial coverage of the applicability rules and how they map to FIBO elements. This effort was prioritized in order to support participation in the ACTUS Challenge, as described on the ACTUS site. The team intends to continue working in this area to expand our coverage and mapping over the coming months. Links to the challenge results will be added once they are available. Note that these additional vocabularies, available under ACTUS as a new domain in FIBO, are provisional and will likely change as we get more experience mapping specific kinds of financial instruments (contract types from an ACTUS perspective) to ACTUS.

We also added high-level accounting concepts related to 'chart of accounts' and extended classification of ledger accounts to support mapping efforts, revised the MIC codes to reflect Q1 ISO updates, and augmented our metadata to better support organizations using FIBO as a business glossary. Some organizations wanted to expand the FIBO domain acronyms in their published glossaries, and requested additional annotations, and to that end we have added skos:altLabels to the metadata files for each of the top-level domain areas.

Business Entities (BE)

There were no changes to the BE ontologies in Q1 2026 aside from metadata updates at the top level.

Business Process Domain (BP)

There were no changes to the BP ontologies in Q1 2026 aside from metadata updates at the top level.

Corporate Action and Events Domain (CAE)

There were no changes to the corporate actions ontologies in Q1 2026 aside from metadata updates at the top level. We anticipate changes in Q2, however, as we map FIBO to controlled vocabularies for corporate actions in ISO 20022 and ACTUS.

Derivatives (DER)

No changes were made to the derivatives ontologies in Q1 2026, aside from top-level metadata revisions. We anticipate that increasing integration with ACTUS will require some revisions, mainly to add properties, over the coming months.

Financial Business and Commerce (FBC)

Changes to FBC this quarter included (1) adding the concept of 'chart of accounts' and expanding definitions related to ledger accounts, (2) adding examples for use in regression testing and for demonstration purposes, (3) updated MIC codes to cover changes to the ISO reference data, and (4) top-level metadata revisions.

Foundations (FND)

Changes to Foundations in Q1 included (1) updates related to the addition of 'chart of accounts' in FBC, and (2) top-level metadata revisions.

Indicators and Indices (IND)

There were no changes to the indices and indicators ontologies in Q1 2026 aside from metadata updates at the top level.

Loans (LOAN)

No changes were made to the LOAN ontologies in Q1 2026, aside from top-level metadata revisions. We anticipate that increasing integration with ACTUS will require some revisions, mainly to add properties, over the coming months.

Market Data Domain (MD)

There were no changes to the MD ontologies in Q1 2026 aside from metadata updates at the top level.

Securities (SEC)

No changes were made to the securities ontologies in Q1 2026, aside from top-level metadata revisions. We intend to spend some work in Q2 on expanding coverage of funds, working on CMOs and related instruments, and increasing integration with ACTUS will require some revisions, mainly to add properties, over the coming months.
