🧬 Tiago Fernando Chaves

🎓 PhD in Cell and Developmental Biology | 🔬 Postdoctoral Researcher in Bioinformatics

I am a Postdoctoral researcher at LAPOGE/UFSC, currently working on the genetic heterogeneity of multiple myeloma. My day-to-day involves CNV analysis, WES, RNA-seq, and survival modeling using the CoMMpass cohort.


🔍 Background & Research

  • 🧬 Genomics Expertise: Advanced focus on Oncogenomics and Exome Interpretation (WES/WGS), including somatic and germline variant curation.
  • 🧠 Thesis Focus: Chromosomal microarray analysis (CMA/aCGH) and runs of homozygosity (ROH) in patients with neurodevelopmental disorders.
  • 📄 Publications: Work published in Scientific Reports and BMC Medical Genomics.
  • 🏫 Education: I also act as a Biology teacher in the Santa Catarina public school system — which keeps me sharp at translating complex data into clear explanations.
